Dico S.F. – Hologram

In the field of physics, holography is a photography process giving three-dimensional illusion. When you see an hologram, you have the impression to see a volume in suspension in the air.

In science fiction, this term is generalised to all kind of really three-dimensional images used as visualisation device. Sometimes (notably in Star Trek), the hologram is associated with force fields and synthesized matter for it can interact with its environment and become a character.
