Unlike the space opera works (whose action takes place mostly into space), the action of the Planet opera (or Planetary romance) genre takes place almost exclusively at an alien planet surface. During their explorations, the protagonists will discover ancient civilisations, encounter extraterrestrials and/or a lot of danger.
