Conapt is a word invented by Philip K. Dick. Contraction of the expression “condominium apartment”, this term designates an apartment located in an housing sizeable complex often at low price.
Sometimes, in Dick’s work, conapts are studios where all the modern commodities are integrated (automatic oven and laundry facilities, minimum sized kitchen and even, in a short story, an intelligent door). From this point of view, Dick showed a visionary insight by imagining, since the fifties, the hoe automation concept.
