Science fiction is a literary, cinematic or televisual genre which wonder about what could be the future or what could have been the past by using present knowledge (scientific, technological, ethnological…)

It is distinguishable from Fantastic which contain unexplainable elements, or from Fantasy which contain magic.

A rustic setting always suggests fantasy; to suggest science fiction, you need sheet metal and plastic. You need rivets.
