The Warp (distortion, deformation of space-time) propulsion is an hypothetical (but under study) technology allowing hyper-luminous travels.
In fact, the spaceship is moving less quickly than light, but in a deformed space-time where the distance to travel is shorter than the one in “normal” space. So the travel would have been faster.
In Star Trek, the Warp propulsion is also called “distortion”.
In the Warhammer 40k universe, Warp is an alternate dimension.
